Frequently Asked Questions

Before Your Appointment

How should I prepare for my microblading appointment?

Consider your preferred eyebrow shape and color, wear your usual makeup to your appointment, and follow the preparation restrictions in the Pre-Care Guide.

Can I wear makeup to my appointment?

Yes. Wearing your normal makeup helps Tammy understand your preferred everyday appearance and eyebrow style.

Can I use Retin-A or AHA skincare products before microblading?

Avoid Retin-A products near the eyebrows for one month before and after treatment. Avoid AHA products near the area for two weeks before and after treatment.

Can I have my eyebrows waxed or tinted?

Complete eyebrow waxing at least three days before your appointment. Avoid eyebrow tinting for two weeks after treatment.

Can I have laser hair removal or electrolysis before microblading?

Complete IPL laser hair removal at least two weeks before your appointment and electrolysis at least five days before.

Can I take aspirin, ibuprofen, or other medications?

The Pre-Care Guide recommends discussing aspirin and ibuprofen use around treatment with your physician. Never discontinue prescribed medication without consulting your prescribing clinician.

Can I drink alcohol before my appointment?

Keep alcohol consumption to a minimum for two days before and two days after your appointment.

Will my eyebrows look different immediately after treatment?

Yes. The pigment may initially appear darker and more intense than the final result, and the area may have temporary redness or swelling. The color softens during healing.

After Your Appointment

How do I clean my eyebrows after microblading?

If lymphatic fluid or blood appears, gently clean the area with saline or cooled boiled water and gauze, then carefully blot dry.

Should I apply an aftercare ointment?

Apply a very thin layer of the balm provided or recommended by Tammy, using clean hands and a cotton swab, up to three times daily if the area feels tight.

Can I get my eyebrows wet?

Avoid prolonged water exposure and soaking the treated eyebrows for the first 14 days.

When can I wear eyebrow makeup again?

Avoid applying makeup directly to the treated brow area for the first 14 days.

Can I exercise, swim, or use a sauna?

Avoid gym workouts, swimming pools, and saunas for the first 14 days after treatment.

Is redness or swelling normal after microblading?

Some temporary redness and swelling are expected. The guide also notes that temporary whitening or blanching around the treated area may occur and generally subside within approximately 12 hours.

Is it normal for my eyebrows to peel or form scabs?

Yes. The healing process may include peeling and fine scabbing. Do not pick, scratch, or pull at the treated skin; allow it to come away naturally.

Why do my eyebrows look lighter or different during healing?

The appearance of the pigment changes as the skin heals, peels, and fades. After fine scabbing has naturally come away, the pigment may appear a different shade.

How long does eyebrow microblading take to heal?

Visible changes may occur over the first two weeks, but the After-Care Guide advises allowing approximately 6–8 weeks for complete healing before additional pigment work.

Long-Term Care

How do I prevent my microblading pigment from fading?

Once the skin is fully healed, use suitable sun protection on the brows. Avoid strong chemical exfoliants and glycolic acid peels near the area, as they may lighten the pigment.

When will I need a touch-up appointment?

The Pre-Care Guide recommends a follow-up around 4–6 weeks after treatment. The After-Care Guide advises waiting until the skin is completely healed, typically 6–8 weeks, before additional pigment work. Confirm your individual appointment timing with Tammy.

How often should I have my eyebrow color refreshed?

The After-Care Guide suggests considering a color-refresh appointment approximately every 12–18 months, depending on pigment fading and your desired appearance.

Can I have Botox, dermal fillers, or laser treatments after microblading?

Discuss Botox or dermal fillers with Tammy and your injector because they can affect eyebrow appearance. Inform laser or pulsed-light treatment providers about your cosmetic tattoo, since these treatments may change pigment color.

Do I need to mention my microblading before an MRI?

Yes. Inform your MRI provider that you have permanent makeup.

Can I donate blood after microblading?

Blood donation eligibility may be affected by cosmetic tattooing. Check the current requirements of your blood collection organization.

What should I do if I have questions during healing?

Contact Microblading by Tammy if you have questions or concerns about your recovery or aftercare.
